About the Placement

The aim of this placement is to help teach English to students from a rural school in Nepal. By helping them improve the English we are helping improve the pupils chances of gaining employment as English is now a must in Nepal. The idea came about this placement after I spent nearly 4 years there and saw the way children soak up the chances of learning. From an early age they are taught that education is the key to lifting them on the social ladder.

Role of Volunteer

The main aim of the volunteer will not just be assisting the teacher in the classroom, here you will get the chance to take classes, talk with students outside in play and generally get the students talking in English. Even outside of school you will find people who want to practice so please immerse yourself in the Nepalese way of life and enjoy your time there.

My advice is to barter lessons in Nepalese with some in English as it makes a fun way of learning.
