Placement: Micro Credit to Pass on the Gift

About the Placement

Some of our international volunteers (UK, USA, Netherlands) have worked hard to come up with a procedure manual for the micro credit scheme recently and have conducted and are conducting an impact assessment. The results of the assessment will lead to continuity of the project and for the need to fund-raise for seed capital, hence the need for new volunteers to continue these efforts starting July 2010.

Ability to assist in the management and control of repayments.

Relevant skills and basic accountancy, mastery of excel, and personable abilities key towards understanding and having patience for poor rural women. A secondary goal of this position would be the strengthening of the structure and methods of the program, wherein prior experience in microfinance or women issues is highly desired.

Mapping out beneficiaries businesses for easy follow up.

Draw up a monitoring plan for all businesses for greater impact. If possible, fundraise so as to reduce the rates of interests which are high due to loans contracted.

Role of Volunteer

- Assist in the management and control of disbursement of the revolving loans (micro credits),

- Upload information in the partner’s website,

- Field visits to beneficiaries

- Create mappings for beneficiaries

- Identify potential funders and carry out fund -raising activities

- Train new members on basic financial management.

- Report on activities

Travel Information

Volunteers will be picked up at the airport by the office administration.

If accepted, the volunteer will be issued an invitation letter to ease visa processing.
