We are looking for people who are patient, kind, hard working, responsible and who want to be involved in working with a completely different culture. Each project or activity at our lodge has different conditions in terms of financing and responsibilities. So whenever you apply it is important to specify your interest. An incredible experience awaits for you!
Cost: Each project has different characteristics but in NONE of them, volunteers need to pay anything expect their flight, visa and personal expenses. Accommodation, food and transportation FROM COCA to the lodge or comuna are completely taken care of by the office.

We have a limited number of volunteer jobs available. Therefore, depending on the number of tourists, volunteers and projects, a position could be open or not. To guarantee the execution and proper ending of the volunteer work, we required a stay of minimum 6 months for the english teachers and minimum 3 months for all the others volunteers. The work plan to be carried out by the volunteer shall be agreed upon prior arrival to the Lodge.
Education in the Communa Sani Isla: This is the option in which we constantly need volunteers and is more likely to have availability. The center of the comuna consists of an Elementary school, public Bathrooms, housing for teachers, sports fields, medical center and the auditorium. You will be living at the community center and will have the option of going to Sani Lodge facilities during the weekends.
Guiding at the lodge: This option is ideal for biologists that want to explore the endless possibilities of the Amazon Rain forest . It is required to understand and talk fluent Spanish as you will be translating the natives words to our guests.
Environmental education or green techniques: We require volunteers with experience in this subject that wish to inform the community in general or specific groups as children, teens, women or parents or the staff that work at the lodge, about the importance of environmental conservation.
Also to develop viable proposals applied to the community or related to the lodge: water savings, reception and re-use of water; treatment and waste disposal; generation of solar energy; use of natural air currents instead of A/C; nutritious self-sufficiency (ecological farms, etc.); bio-construction (using native techniques and local materials), certifications, etc.
Productivity: Interested in the economic and social growth of the community, we require qualified volunteers with experience in community work to empower and motivate the community in general or specific groups of gender or age to produce and commercialize quality products. In this field can be included the manufacture of crafts , organic products, etc, depending on the characteristics of the natural and social environment in which you interact and in agreement with the conservation of its atmosphere.
Other Projects: There are many ways to help us and work with us in a volunteer position. Many things have to be accomplished and we are always considering new projects or receiving outside proposals. The volunteers have to pay the transport from their country to Quito. Regarding to the transport to Coca, it have to be organized between the office and the volunteer.
