Ecotourism in Cameroon

Our NGO aims at developing/promoting sustainable ecotourism in Korup National Park and its peripheral. She also work towards the improvement of the livelihood of the local people living in and around Korup National Park by empowering them with alternative income generative activities like snail, fish and cane rat farming respectively as well as Non Timber Forest Products (NTFP) domestication. She also carries out Environmental Education activities in village communities in and around Korup National Park and the propose Ndongere National Park (Mangrove national park) to complement the conservation effort of the Korup project that ended some four (4) years ago.

From our domain of intervention, different volunteers will participate in the different programmes as follows;

TEACHERS

There are four (4) primary schools in villages found in Korup National Park. The area is remote and these schools lack teachers.People who might want to work in this area to teach the kids will be highly welcome.

PLEASE NOTE

It should be noted that our project area is very remote, so volunteers should have good health and be physically fit to be able to manage this terrain.Most of the project sites are not accessible by cars, so workers are expected to trek in the rainforest across streams and rivers. For now our organisation does not have enough equipment such as computers.It will be necessary for the volunteer to come along with his/her laptop.This area has MTN and Orange mobile telephone networks.Recently it is possible to assess emails from the park head quarters in Mundemba where our main office is located. This area is humid and has high rainfall.Floods are not common.

Cost

Volunteer pay for their own food and medication.  Accommodation can be arranged at a cost of £40 per month for a house of good quality.

Travel

Volunteers will be picked up from the airport which is included in the fee.
