Projects

All our projects are located in the Gran Sabana in the south-east of Venezuela, between the Orinoco and Amazon river basin. The highland area includes the huge National Park Canaima with its famous table-top mountains, Angel Falls and innumerable rivers that flow on jasper river-beds.
The Gran Sabana is home to the Pemón Indians, an ethnic minority, which are finding that the soil is very acidic with a low mineral content, making cultivation - and consequently their livelihoods - very difficult. This means that after a relatively short period of time communities resort to 'slashing and burning' further parts of the forest. This, combined with increasing population pressures, illegal mining and new population settlements leads to fragmentation of the forest which has a strong negative impact on the balance of the ecosystem. Areas are becoming deserts, many species of flora and fauna are being menaced of extinction. Therefore there is an urgent need for environmental protection and sustainable development in the area.

Every project has been developed with complete respect for the ancestral culture
of the Pemón. Our volunteer programs are run in co-operation with these indigenous
communities, the CVG-Edelca and the local authorities. We work in the areas
of Community Development, Conservation, English teaching and Health Care. You
can work in one or more of our projects, according to your preferences. Our
projects are running the whole year and we participate  also of different "Misiones"
of the "Gobierno Bolivariano", like Mision Piar(educacion popular), Mision Arbol(reforestation),
where you can express your skills, personality and independence.
