Foundation for Orphans, Widows and AIDS Victims (FOWAV) is a community-based organization located at Martyrs' High School that was initiated by professional teachers in 2003. Since then FOWAV has provided orphans and children from poor families with subsidized education and educational materials, as well as basic necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing. Other activities include increasing awareness about HIV/AIDS among students and the community in order to reduce transmission and the stigma attached to those with HIV/AIDs and providing counseling for those affected by HIV/AIDS. In addition, there is fundraising and the initiation of income generation to one day sustain the project. Currently a school is being built on newly purchased land, but until it is ready, school buildings are being rented. There are 19 teachers and about 500 students. Martyrs' High School is located in rural Kiboga, located about 3 hours northwest of Kampala, in the central region of Uganda.
US $350 for the first month, $150 for the second month, $100 for the third month, and $80 for subsequent months. This covers food and accommodation.
