We have 5 cabins on the Klamath River in the Six Rivers
national Forest. This is the homeland of the Karuk Indian Tribe. On our land we
have a one and a half acre garden, a mail order bare root fruit tree nursery,
milking goats to provide us with milk and cheese and a flock of chickens. We are
permaculturally focused and try to be as sustainable as possible. We also
offer workshop, mostly in the spring on botanical illustration, amndolinand
guitar music, ethnobotany, pruning and grafting. The cabin business is mainly
concentrated in the summer and fall. We also have a dried flower wreath
business, growing the flowers ourselves and selling them through local fairs and
on site. Everything we grow is
organic.
We offer work exchange/internship programs throughout
the year. The winter program is focused on the fruit tree nursery, the rest of
the year is for homestead/garden, dried flower and cabin business. We do
not take people for less than 2 months and prefer a longer stay. Volunteers work
30 hours/ week in exchange for room and board and amall stipend ranging from
$100 - $200/month.
We offer free food and accommodation to our volunteers and give them an allowance between $100-200 per month.
We can arrange a local pickup.
