This Community Center is a community based non-profit organization formed in 2000,
and registered with the Ministry of Culture and Social Services in the same year. It is based
in a rural slum in
children and women in the slum and its neighbourhood. It is located on a piece of land next
to the slum donated in 2000 by the local council. Through the efforts of the local community,
wellwishers and corporates, several classrooms, an office and a community hall/church
were put up. Since its formation, the group has been offering free education to orphans and
needy children, emergency relief, counseling, community mobilization for socio-economic
empowerment,
HIV/AIDS awareness and tree planting among others.
Goodwill have recently expanded to include a business centre which helps the local people to sell handy craft including:

¢ African Vitenge ( very
beautiful clothing)
¢ Kikoy shawls, shirts and T-shirts
¢ Batiks with
native impressions

¢ Native sandals
¢ Necklaces
¢ Wristlets
¢ Belts
¢ Bags
Role of Volunteer
We want volunteers to help with
the general day to day running of the centre
Various programs of choice we have
are:
Orphans care and support
Environmental
conservation
Income generating activities/Fundraising
Home-based care
for HIV positive people and children
HIV/AIDS awareness
activities.
eaching at the centre and/or
nearby partner primary and secondary school
Promotion and
marketing of our products(above)
Documentation of our activities
and projects
Any other duty that one may be assigned.
Cost
Accommodation: Either at the nearby
OR accommodation at a 3
roomed plus kitchen, bathroom, toilets, 2 balconies etc in a spacious compound
about 200m from Goodwill. This apartment is in a secure and serene compund and is
self-catering. Cost is $200 per month.
Volunteers
should make a one time contribution to Goodwill of at least
100$.
Travel
We
can arrange pick-ups from the Nairobi airport at a
cost of US$50 one
way
