This placement is a small green globe 21 certified eco lodge and sustainable living centre in a lush rainforest valley in unspoiled Eastern Dominica, surrounded by pristine rivers with a backdrop of rainforested mountains.
We offer various forms of accommodation to suit all budgets; self-contained cottages, bamboo tree house, traditional Carib Indian thatched cabin, full camping facilities and hammock rental.
In total we have 16 beds, 32 places in tents, and 20 hammocks, total capacity 68. We have a fully licensed restaurant and bar. We run a sustainable living centre where we teach monthly workshops on all forms of renewable energy and organic farming practices, and offer free tours of all our systems to all visitors.
We use only renewable energy, biodegradable cleaning products and our gardens are 100% organic. We have four natural river pools on site for bathing, We are ideally located on the edge of the Morne Trois Pitons National Park for hiking and wildlife watching, and offer a whole host of adventure, nature and environmental activities such as hiking, diving, horse riding, wildlife watching (turtles, birds and whales) and our community life package holidays, where guests get to experience real village life, and villagers receive cash payment for their services.
Role of Volunteer
As a volunteer you would help with teaching, general house keeping, construction work and possibly first aid, if you have qualifications.
