Royal Chitwan national Park is one of the best National Parks designated by the UNESCO. Help is needed with the construction of river beds to protect them from the floods and teaching about the eco-systems and advanced agriculture procedures.

Meghauli and the surrounding area cover about 88 sq.km bordering the southern and eastern parts of the National Park. People living in the area depend mainly upon the traditional type of agriculture and need help in many ways to change their lifestyle. Farmers are more concerned with wild animals destroying crops than conservation. They are not aware of the importance of the National Park or the relationship between the park and wildlife, which helps to balance the local eco-system.

We have been continuously educating people about the importance of tourism and the potentially positive impact it can have on peoples lives.

In western Chitwan, the Rhino Resort is the only registered resort hotel established outside the park. Among its objectives is the protection of the National Park from human encroachment and provision of higher-quality services to park visitors.

It is at the edge of the park beside the Rapti River with a private compound of more than 6 hectors. Its mini jungle comprises more than 500 varieties of trees and 150 varieties of medicinal plants decorated with a rose garden. Its modern bungalows with deluxe rooms provide homely comfort and top-quality services. It has its own organic vegetable garden and provides fresh herbal tea from the compound to its visitors. Tharu tribal dances by villagers, a cultural presentation unique to this area, delight the guests every evening.

Role of Volunteer

Help with construction work of river beds to protect them from the floods and teach about the eco systems and advanced agriculture procedures. Placements can be tailored depending on volunteers skills and interests.

It would be highly appreciated if volunteers could help to collect more funds to construct river beds. Volunteers have to pay nominal money for their stay.

The nominal cost is approximately $20 - 25 per day, which includes all expenses.
