Ecoteers official second careerbreak Borneo volunteer project is designed to help teach English to the palm oil children in the state of Sabah. careerbreak Borneo volunteers help provide these children with basic primary education which they would otherwise be deprived.

The careerbreak Borneo orangutan project is a collection of orangutan conservation projects in both Peninsular Malaysia and Malaysian Borneo, funded by Borneo careerbreak volunteer contributions. The GOP's strength lies in its unique collaboration of orangutan conservation organisations or individuals who exchange knowledge, advice and ideas towards orangutan conservation in this part of the world. Each project has the shared vision of increasing the size and health of Borneo orangutan populations, bringing them back from the brink of extinction.

Malaysian Borneo is in the tropics with daily temperatures being a constant 34 degrees throughout the year. The country is affected by an annual monsoon with the east coast of west Malaysia experiencing high wind and rain from the months of November through to February. The monsoon also affects Borneo but is usually much less severe.
